Art + Textiles + Botanicals.
I have always loved textiles; fabrics, yarns, trims. As a teenager I made most of my clothes. As a mom I made countless costumes, appliquéd tee shirts, and altered a formal or two. As an empty nester I tried quilting, knitting and embroidery. As a new retiree I decided I might try painting, silk painting, then oil painting, then back to textiles to try silk screen on cotton and linen.
Somewhere in between I began exploring essential oils and how their use might help improve the quality of life; relieve stress, clear sinuses, and sooth minor aches and pains. Much later, my goals were to boost my immune system, quiet the mind, and relieve chronic pain. Research, trial and error and self experimentation with aroma therapy led me to favorite combinations of essential oils and delivery methods (who doesn’t love a good soak).
My interest in painting brought me to study the masters of color, form and light of the twentieth century. Ah, I love bold, deep, bright, pale, subtle color. I love the feel of soft nubby cotton and cool silk habotai. I love the clean scent of lavender, the energy of peppermint, the embrace of orange blossoms, and the southern California breeze scented with the peeling bark of eucalyptus trees.
The items presented here are the things I love: colors, textures, and scents. They are made by my hands and used in my home. I hope you will enjoy.
